Presentation Junior School are delighted to announce we have National Champions in our school! Ms. Meade’s Second Class have been participating in the Cumann Scoildrámaíochta competition since February. It is a drama competition with plays and musicals in Irish. We performed in the Regional Finals in February, the Leinster Championships in March and the All-Ireland Finals on the 9th April 2014. Our drama was a musical called “Na Trí Cailleacha” (The Three Witches) and we faced very stiff competition in the National Finals, which included many schools from all over the country!. There were 44 dramas in the finals which included 1500 children and we were very proud to be representing our school there. The results were announced in Mullingar Arts Centre at 2.30pm on the 9th April and our drama was announced as the Winner in our category. All the children worked so hard on the drama, which included learning dialogue, dances and songs, all “as Gaeilge”!!.The parents also were involved in helping the children to learn their lines and provide costumes. A large number of parents and family members also attended each performance in all the rounds of the competition and we are so grateful for their support. The children and their teacher thoroughly deserve their win and will receive their trophy at a special awards ceremony in Croke Park, Dublin on the 7th May! Thank you to all who helped us along the way including Mrs. Beddows, Ms. Manny and Mrs. Killalea, Jacinta Masterson, Patricia Ennis and Colm Oxley. We couldn’t have done this without you! croppedpicplay (1)
