 The finances of the school were reviewed and discussed.

 Condolences: Condolences were extended to Donal Whelan our chairperson, on the passing
of his beloved mother Eileen and to David Gavin and his family on the loss of his dear sister-
in-law Eimear Groonell. Eimear also taught here for 32 years and served as a much loved
deputy principal before she retired.
 Flooding Report: Mr. Fry reported to the Board that our school was flooded due to a burst
water heater over the May Bank Holiday weekend. The damage done was to our caretakers
room, the kitchen below it and two resource rooms 4 and 5.
 Summer Course: A summer course on Teacher-Artist co-operation will take place in our
school from 1 st – 5 th July.

 Tesco/Bag Packing: Our Parent’s Association are bag packing in Tesco on June 14 th /15 th to
raise funds for our school and ASD unit.
 Library Shelves: Mr. Fry said that the school has three sets of shelves which formerly
belonged to our library in room 6 but as they are now taking up space he would like to offer
at least one to Mullingar Town Band who are looking for donations. The Board were happy

  • The finances of the school were reviewed and discussed

 Feile Áth Luain:   Miss Glynn’s and Mr. Killian’s classes will be representing our school in Athlone at the Feile Ceol on Wednesday April 10th. 

 FAI Schools Soccer: Both of Mr. Kelly’s school soccer teams qualified from the local tournament for the regional finals where one of them finished with silver medals.  Well done to both teams and their coach!

 Camogie/Hurling: Both our camogie and hurling teams have competed with distinction over the last few weeks playing four games between them – winning three and drawing one. We are very proud of them all and thank all their teachers for the effort they put in.

Confirmation: Our Confirmation Day last Saturday was a great success. Thanks to Miss Denieffe, Miss Glynn and Mr. Kelly for all their hard work in preparing the boys and girls. Our school choir also represented us with great distinction.

  •  Jungle Book Musical: On January 23rd, two of our 6th classes performed The Jungle Story Musical in the Arts Centre to a packed hall. A great night was had by all.
  •  Parents Association Raffles: On the night of the musical, our Parents Association held another highly successful raffle. €660 was raised.
  • Grandparents Day: Grandparent’s Day was a huge success again this year. Mr. Fry commended the teachers for their efforts and the Parents Assoc. again for their support..
  • Health/Wellbeing Week / Gerry Duffy: From the 11th to the 18th of this month our whole school engaged in healthy activities to promote wellbeing and mindfulness. This culminated in a visit from Gerry Duffy who gave two inspiring talks to the children and teachers.
  • Tin Whistle: Mr. Enda Seery has been giving 10 weeks of tin whistle lessons to 4th and 5th classes. These lessons  are going really well.

  1. Following the recent departure of Fr. Padraig McMahon, Declan welcomed the following new members to the Board.- Mr. Donal Whelan – Chairperson- Mr. David Gavin – Bishop’s Nominee- Mrs. Patricia Doonan – Parent’s Representative.
  2. The minutes of the previous meeting were read out and adopted.

  4. Principal’s Report
    1. The new Principal’s Report covering allegations of abuse/child protection concerns/bullying and reporting to TUSLA was used for the first time. This template is to be used at every Board meeting from now on.

 

  1. Our current enrolment stands at 359 pupils.
  2. Droichead Process: Mr. Fry reported back the Board on a summer course held here in July for teachers in schools that wishing to begin the Droichead process. This replaces the previous inspection of NQT’s by the DOE.

  1. The minutes of the previous meeting were read out and adopted.
  2. The school’s finances were reviewed and discussed.
  3. Principal’s Report
    1. The new Principal’s Report covering allegations of abuse/child protection concerns/bullying and reporting to TUSLA was used for the first time. This template is to be used at every Board meeting from now on.

 

  1. Our current enrolment stands at 349 pupils.
  2. Data Protection: Mr. Fry informed the Board that the new Data Protection Policy has to be in place by May 25th. Mr. Fry said there are 3 main areas of concern:- verbal: what we say to others about others in/out of school- documentation: what we write about others and how it is stored-digital: what we send by e-mail/save on our computers/devices and how we protect it.
  3. Nano Nagle Day: Mr. Fry told the Board about some of the events that took place to mark the tercentenary of Nano Nagle. We had a tree-planting ceremony on the 26th of April followed by mass on the 27th in the Cathedral with Fr. Padraig.
    Each class is also contributing to a timeline display of the last 300 years.
  4. Droichead Process: Mr. Fry informed the Board that a summer course will be held here in July for teachers in schools wishing to begin the Droichead process. This replaces the previous inspection of NQT’s by the DOE.

 

The Board  also asked if yellow painted markings on steps to the prefabs/ASD unit could be redone as they had worn away over time.

  • The school’s financial situation was discussed.
  • Our school’s new Child Safeguarding Statement was ratified by the Board.
  •  Our current enrolment stands at 350 pupils.
  •  Mr. Fry thanked Miss Coleman for producing a wonderful whole school concert during Seachtain na Gaeilge on March 15th.
  • Mr. Fry congratulated Miss Glynn and her 4th class on taking part in the Leinster Finals of An Féile Scoildrámaíochta.
  • Our school policy on Swimming was ratified by the Board.
  • Our school will be having a visit tomorrow Wed 21st from the Community Green Schools Officer. Mr. Fry again complimented Mrs. Jacinta Sullivan on the amazing work being done by herself and her Green Schools committee.
  • Clothes Collection: Mr. Fry told the Board that our Cash for Clobber collection earned us €295.
  • Next meeting: The next Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, May  15th 2018 @ 7pm.

  • The school’s financial situation was discussed.
  •  Our current enrolment stands at 351 pupils.
  •  Tin whistle lessons with third classes have started and are going well and the Board have agreed to fund another five weeks of lessons up to March 7th with Siobhan Masterson. Monies raised in our Cash for Clobber drive will go towards this.
  • A Dental Hygienist Donna Paton will be coming to visit our 3rd classes on Tuesday 27th Feb.
  • The Gardai will be visiting the school over the coming weeks to give talks to all classes on subjects such as bicycle safety, the role of the Garda and Substance misuse.
  •  Catholic Schools Week / Catechist’s Visit: Next week in our school is Catholic Schools week and this culminates in Grandparents Day with a service on Friday Feb 2nd at 1pm in the hall which Fr. Padraig hopes to attend. The Catechists will visit on Wednesday.
  • Clothes Collection: The Cash for Clobber collection will be held on Tuesday Feb 13th.
  • Coyne’s Cycles: Coynes Cycles will be visiting the school on Thursday, Jan 25th and will be making a donation of a child’s bicycle to the school for a raffle prize.
  •  Christmas Events / Charitable Donations/ Letters of Thanks: Mr. Fry told the Board about the many successful Christmas/ charitable events that we had in December including our Sale of Work, Carol Singing and Miss Coleman’s Christmas Karaoke. The proceeds of these events were distributed between TEAM and St. Vincent de Paul and  John McCauley’s Orphanage project.
  • Primary Language Curriculum Day: The  that the school will be closed for the staff to attend an in-service day on Tuesday Jan 30th.
  • Nano Nagle 300: Miss Coleman informed the Board of some of the activities planned throughout the school to celebrate Nano Nagle’s tercentenary.
  • Next meeting: The next Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 20th 2018 @ 7pm.

  • New Appointments: Since our last meeting, Peter Kelly and Shane Killian have appointed to the permanent staff and Daniel McNeill has been appointed to cover the maternity leave of Mary Jo McDonnell.

  • Cyber-bullying talks: In October, Pat Courtney came to our school and gave a series of highly successful talks to pupils, parents and staff.
  •   Tin Whistle: Tin whistle lessons with third classes have started and are going very  well.
  •   Boys/ Girls Football: Our boys and girls football teams have finished their matches for the season and have done us proud.
  •   Green Schools: Mrs. Jacinta Sullivan continues to do Trojan work on Green Schools with her committee of children.
  •    Nano Nagle 300: Mrs. Jacinta Sullivan and Ms. Carol McLoughlin went to a meeting in Mount St. Anne’s to find out about plans to celebrate Nano Nagle’s 300 anniversary. There will be more information on this in the new year.
  •       Presentation Day: On Nov 21st we went to mass at 10am in the cathedral as a whole school with Fr. Padraig.

The finances of Presentation Senior School were reviewed and discussed.

Mr. Fry welcomed the appointment of two new members of staff since the Board ;last met: Miss Ciara Nally and Miss Carol McLoughlin. Mr. Fry said that the school is lucky to get two teachers of such quality and talent and he is sure they will be a great addition to our school.

Mr. Fry informed the Boardthat he is delighted to welcome back Mrs. Jacinta Sullivan who has returned to take up her post as deputy principal. Mr Fry wanted to thank Miss Catherine Denieffe for her outstanding service over the past two years.

Mr. Fry informed the Board that Tin Whistle lessons for 4th classes and guitar for our 6th classes should commence shortly.

Mr. Fry informed the Board that our bag packing at TESCO in May raised just over €650 between the two schools.

Mr. Fry informed the Board that skipping ropes have been purchased for every class in the school following a very successful two days of skipping with Skip Hop in our school recently.

The date has been set for the next meeting on Tuesday November 28th at 7pm

The finances of Presentation Senior School were reviewed and discussed.
Mr. Fry informed the Board that standardised testing is going on in all classes this week.
Mr. Fry informed the Board that Sports Day will be held on June 8th weather permitting.
Mr. Fry informed the Board that Science Day will be held on June 16th in our school hall.
Mr. Fry informed the Board that the Celtic Blondes will visit our school to teach Irish dancing on the 25th and 26th of May.
Mr. Fry informed the Board that our schools bag packing day is on Saturday May 27th in Tesco Mullingar from 10am.
Miss Clare Colman told the board on behalf of Mrs. Sullivan about our schools successful visit to the Challenge to Change project day in Tullamore last week.
No date has been set for the next meeting.

  • The Board offered it’s sympathy to Mrs. Valerie Moore on the recent passing of her mother Mrs. Mae Lynch.
  • The Board offered its congratulations to Mr. Des Walsh on the achievement of 100 years in business in Mullingar Town.
  • The finances of Presentation Senior School were reviewed and discussed.
  • Our recent Cash for Clobber initiative earned €315 for the school. The Board are grateful for all the support received.
  •  Mr. Fry congratulated Miss Glynn’s third class on their wonderful achievement in reaching the Leinster Finals of Scoildrámaiocht.
  • Mr. Fry informed the Board that our recent Scholastic Book Fair raised €905 in free books for our school. Thank you to Ms. Denieffe for all her efforts.
  • Our schools Anti- Bullying Policy and our Voluntary Absence Policy were reviewed, discussed and approved.
  • Our next meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 16th

  • The finances of Presentation Senior School were reviewed and discussed.
  • Fr. Padraig thanked the children, teachers and choirs for their contribution to the Presentation Day Mass. He felt the mass was a wonderful tribute to the life Nano Nagle.
  • Fr. Padraig also thanked Miss Denieffe and her choir for their involvement in the success of his jubilee celebrations on October 1st last.
  • The Board were informed that the school choir will be singing for charity in aid of TEAM on Thursday 15th, December in Harbour Place Shopping Centre ´@ 3pm

  • Our school finances were reviewed and discussed.
  • Our school’s enrolment was reviewed and discussed.
  • Our Cash for Clobber fundraiser will take place on Tuesday 31st, Jan in the school hall.
  • From Carol singing, jumble sales and our Christmas Jumper Day, €1300 was raised for our chosen charities in December.Fry spoke about the number of different events and fundraisers that went on in the school during December last. This culminated with a presentation to TEAM and a memorable Christmas Karaoke led by Claire Coleman.
  • GAA coaching, an art project with Lucy Tormey, guitar lessons, cycling / road safety all going on in the school at present.
  • Grant is running a fifth class soccer league in the hall at lunchtime for 5th class boys
  • Our school choir under the direction of Catherine Denieffe will represent their school at the Peace Proms in Dublin on Sunday Feb 5th.
  • Miss Hannah Mulroy has kindly agreed to run our first ever Spelling Bee over the next few weeks. Our champion will then go on to the Co. Final.
  • Credit Union Schools Table Quiz takes place on Friday night, Jan 29th at 8pm in the Park Hotel.
  • The date for our next meeting is set for March 21st, Tuesday at 7pm.
