The Scarecrow
I made a scarecrow for a Halloween competition. I tied two sticks together. The scarecrow’s body is made from paper. I stuffed him with straw. I put old clothes on him. I painted his face to make him very scary. He has a green nose. He will scare the birds away. I like scarecrows!

The children from the Autism class in Presentation Senior School were very proud when they received an award for first place in the Belvedere Scarecrow competition. Amy, Paul, Max and Emily gathered material from Shaw’s drapery. They painted, sewed and decorated the scarecrow after stuffing it with straw and creating his title. There was much integration, fun and imagination used in the process as well as an educational trip to Belvedere House and Gardens. The large scarecrow now takes pride of place in the Autism Class’ purpose built sensory garden.
