Literacy and Numeracy

In Presentation Convent Junior School we have a Special Education team of seven teachers who support children experiencing difficulties with Literacy and Numeracy as well as other curriculum areas. Through a consultative process with the child, parents and class teacher specific interventions and individualised teaching approaches and programmes are used to help the child reach targets and experience success. Some of our programmes include Literacy Lift Off, Reading Recovery and Maths Recovery.

English as an Additional Language

Our EAL team work with children identified as requiring additional support with English, Through the use of our own in-school devised Oral Language programme children are supported and monitored as they progress and acquire the language skills they need.

Student Voice

In Presentation Convent Junior our children have opportunities to become involved in our communities such as Green Schools, Challenge to Change and our Creative Council. Children also have responsibilities within their classroom and for their school environment. Have a look at what all we do!

Home School Liaison

Marie Byrne is our Home School Community Liaison co-ordinator (H.S.C.L.) Miss Byrne works in partnership with parents to support children and families through organising parent classes, home visits and working with initiatives in the community that may be of interest to our school. Parents will also be invited to visit their children’s classrooms to see how they learn. Please come along to one of our coffee mornings for a cuppa and a chat!
